Naval Flight Officer

Jim Feldkamp, born in Roseburg, Oregon, began his distinguished career after earning a BS in Business from Oregon State University. He then entered the U.S. Navy, where he served with distinction as a naval flight officer. His responsibilities included pivotal roles such as Countermeasures Officer and Navigator on the EA-6B, executing operations from the USS Midway during significant military engagements like Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991.

After his naval service, Feldkamp pursued a career with the FBI as a Special Agent in Norfolk, Virginia. He played a foundational role in the Tidewater Joint Terrorism Task Force and was tasked with critical aerial surveillance operations. His civic engagement led him into the political arena, where he ran as the Republican nominee for Oregon’s 4th Congressional District in the 2004 and 2006 elections.

In 2007, Jim was recalled to active duty to contribute to the establishment of the office that would evolve into the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO). He also ventured into academia, serving as an adjunct professor at George Washington University, George Mason University, and Georgetown University, focusing on domestic and international terrorism. He has authored and edited significant academic works, including the textbook "Theory and Politics of Terrorism."

In his ongoing professional life, Jim is the Lead Consultant at Complete Threat Preparedness, Inc., where he offers expert advice on security and safety protocols. He also contributes as a freelance editor at Reedsy, specializing in terrorism and intelligence literature. His passion for adventure is evident from his participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race from 2018 to 2022.

James Feldkamp's role at the Office of Global Maritime Situational Awareness has been instrumental in advancing maritime security, establishing strategic partnerships, and promoting international information-sharing efforts that have significantly enhanced maritime operations' safety.

An enthusiast of extreme sports, Feldkamp enjoys mountain climbing, skiing, scuba diving, and sailing. His participation in activities like the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona and the Clipper Race highlights his adventurous and resilient character. An MA in International Affairs from the Catholic University of America complements his academic pursuits, as does advanced strategic training from the U.S. Naval War College.
